I learned this lenticular look alike is a Pilei or cap cloud and signals a strong updraft acting upon moist air at lower altitudes, causing the air to cool to its dew point. Now with this pilei attached to it, it is called cumulonimbus with pileus --and warns of an impending storm.

When I first looked at it, it looked like a lenticular on top of a thunderhead but in a moment the cloud had pierced through what is really called a cap or pilei cloud.
