Thank you, Betsy and Lynn, for taking a look! Yes, the budding flowers do look a lot like the spent ones, though there are white petals on the incoming ones that are lost early on in the process of going to seed. Betsy, I don't really know if there are more QAL this year; it's just the time of year when they predominate the wildflower scene. Lynn, I didn't know, but I would suppose people who like visuals would be the majority of those using this very visually-oriented site.

Thanks, James; maybe it is just a good year for them. Every year some things do well and others poorly; I do not know whether which ones fall in which group has any lasting significance.
