Gus to the left, Hanna to the right...
Saturday, August 30, 2008:
Today is my daughter Ellen's 29th Birthday (Rylee's Mama). She was born with Hurricane David taking aim at Florida back in 1979, he was our Welcome to Florida storm. Barely got home from the Hospital in time to board up. Lucky David turned north at last minute and hit Palm Beach County. And her 13th Birthday party was post poned 3 weeks because of Andrew back in 1992. In 2006 we thought we were going to have a Hurricane Ernesto Party on her 27th Birthday; well at least everyone was off work on her birthday that year for the Ernesto storm that never materalized. I guess when your Birthday is August 30th and you live in South Florida, you will have many "stormy" parties.
Happy Birthday Ellen!

Trying for 3rd time.. maybe 3rd time is charm? Neither time before took my header and title update.
Oh well.
remember this song "stuck in the middle with you" well now it is "Gus to the left of me and Hanna to the right and here I am, stuck in the middle with you." LOL that is about were Florida is going to be for the next few days.
Also HG told me it reminded her of Jimmy Buffets "Fins" song.. "Fins to the left Fins to the right and you're the only bait in town." LOL Oh boy.
Stay safe everyone, especially those directly in harms way from Gus.

I see at 5am this morning, Hurricane Gustav has 85 mph winds. Not good. Still traveling NW but looks like it should take the turn to the west today and tomorrow. Which will put South Florida out of the pictuer. See, it is good to be in the cone early in the game. The storm track always moves. Good luck for those living along the Gulf of Mexico areas. at 8am: now 90 mph winds almost a Cat 2, still moving NW at 9 mph.
Monday, August 25, 2008:
2:00pm, now we have Tropical Storm Gustav which is strengthening quickly and heading toward Florida or the GOM. Folks, Here we go again!
Friday, August 22, 2008:
Tropical Storm Fay, The Drought Buster! Well can you believe it, we are still watching TS Fay in Florida. Already made 3 landfalls, Key West, Cape Romano, and Flagler Beach, is it going for Four Florida Landfalls?
But one thing Fay has done and that is lift us out of a two year drought. Every place she has traveled is now a dark blue on the drought map. News is reporting that Lake Okeechobee has risen 1 ft already and once the rain off from above the lake starts coming downstream it will rise much more. The Everglades are full, our canals are full, and we are running water off into the ocean. Now if we can maintain a normal wet season with our normal rains, we should be ok and not have a problem getting though next winter. So for that we say Thank you Fay! Now PLease go away!

Fay still Keeps us Guessing..
Wed. August 20, 2008:
Well, if Fay has done nothing else, she has single handedly ended the 2 year drought in most of Florida and she isn't done yet. All the counties that have come under her path are not blue. We received over 4 inches at my house in 24 hours which was nice. No flooding here because it was off and on during those 24 hours. Hope she can continue to give the drought areas a good soaking without the flooding that Melbourne is going thru today. And it appears we will be watching this storm through the weekend. Oh NOOOOO!
Tuesday, August 19, 2008: Happy 55th Birthday to me!
Well officially TS Fay made its first landfall at Key West around 3:20pm on Monday and made its second landfall around 5am this morning at Cape Romano, just south of Marco Island. And the NHC had this coming in arond Ft Myers which it didn't. Heck they had it coming in at Tampa until 5am yesterday morning. IMO their forcast track for this storm moved every 3 hours and as I stated 2 days ago the safest place to be when this lands is Tampa because that is where it is forcasted to make landfall.. and of couse it came in about 200 miles south of the "dotted line" LOL The NHC is still not good for the landfall forcast even 2 days out much less 3 days out. Just a week ago it was suppose to have been an East Coast/Bahamas storm. Oh well thank goodness for WU! It is my understanding this storm still has a lot of traveling to do. It may get back out in Atlantic and then make a sharp turn to the west again and continue living! Let's keep an eye on it a few more days. AND let's not forget we still have Invest 94L barreling this way! My house has received little over 4" of rain in the past 24 hours.. 6am yesterday - 6am today and it is still coming down. From 6am yesterday to 6am today, my house has received litle over 4" of rain and it is still coming down.
Monday, August 18, 2008:
Well, SE Florida is out of the cone, for now again, but who knows with this storm... She hasn't followed any of the rules so far. Looks like I am going to have a pretty interesting Birthday tomorrow! LOL
Everyone in Florida and the Eastern Seaboard, we need to keep watching this carefully.
I will be in and out of here and over on Bob's blog most of the day today. And this site is very slow at times and about half of the comments are not postings. So sometimes some of the comments don't make sense because they should have followed one that didn't post LOL
Take care everyone!
Friday, August 15, 2008:
We finally have that storm we have tracked for 2 weeks developed into a named storm...Fay. Now at least we can have some data and tracking and regular updates. Now just hope it does not sit in the GOM in all that hot water before hitting anyone. Everyone in any part of the "cone" needs to get prepared.
Those "F" Named Storms have quite a history:
Fedric, Fran, Floyd, Felix, Frances, Fabian in 04 was cat 4 but was nice back in 97...and Florence usually behaves herself so far. LOL Do any of these bring back memories; some of them were memorable storms several times and still not a "retired" name; sort of like "Gordon" which should have been retired twice!
Decided to go ahead and put some of the storm tracking info here for us to have handy. These will change as the tracks change so they should stay updated.
