.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea cleared of most cloudiness early yesterday morning.
There has been considerable thunderbumper activity in Sonora yesterday afternoon and early this morning. Most were well on the wane by 4am. All of the storms moved north and none of the storms moved west out into the Sea. There is however quite a lot of debris cloudiness in the Sea especially in the southern Sea this morning. I’d imagine that all these will clear by mid morning. This image is showing the East Cape with a blanket of remnant clouds.
This loop is showing some clouds developing back in the mountains along the Baja central coast but it looks like none developed into thumpers.
Looking south of the cape to the Mexican Riviera where from just a bit south of Mazatlan to around Zihuatanejo there has been very heavy thunderbumper activity over land and many squalls off shore.
Further south the Gulf of Tehuantepec is clear this morning but there are 25K winds funneling through the Chivella pass into the Gulf this morning due to a tropical wave just east of the Bay of Campeche on the eastern coast.
Looking now into our Tropical Kitchen where yesterday a tropical wave was flirting with that low that is embedded in the ITCZ/Monsoon trough about 650 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo. It was not getting much attention. This morning however the Navy has designated it as invest 90 Echo. And the National Hurricane Center is giving it a 40% chance of tropical development in the next 48 hours.
Glancing over to the Caribbean the only Tropical Wave that I can see is the one approaching the Bay of Campeche. It should move through the Tehuantepec isthmus probably tomorrow evening or early Monday.
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where a low has dipped down from the Gulf of Alaska and is keeping the streets wet in Portland and Seattle today.
Northern California will continue to see triple digit temperatures today and start to cool off a little next week.
Southern California where high pressure will rule the southern California weather into next Thursday. Monsoonal moisture from the SW will bring a chance to thunderbumper to the mountains and deserts through Tuesday night. Temperatures will be a bit above normal today.
Looking now over to the southwest where the monsoon will be bringing thunderbumpers and showers to the region into late in the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the far northern Sea could see some 20 knot winds today and tomorrow however the rest of the Sea moderate southerlies much like we have had for the past week.
The southern Sea will continue to see light to moderate ESE winds over the 3-day forecast period.
Temperature today will be about like the past few days and be in the high 80s to the mid 90s.
The blogger in La Paz is now saying the entire peninsula will be seeing triple digits afternoon temperatures next week.
