The Womens Olympics #60

There is no more weather to talk about in Texas. There are only degrees of hot :P

So I'm heading to 50 and have only played one home video game more than once. The spouse got me a cellphone a few years ago that I rarely carry. Everywhere I see people peering intently into their palms while giving loving finger strokes to some flat thing cradled in their hand.

Am I missing something?

In celebration of paying off the house and getting news I can make long term plans, I decided to get a Smart Phone...Having no idea whatsoever what they do or what to look for. I just wanted the biggest screen possible short of a tablet. We found a carrier that had the best plan for our area and shopped them for a phone.

As luck would have it, Costco had the big phone $300 cheaper than the carriers store. Plus, I got another one free. So we both got smart phones; The Samsung Galaxys2 and s3.
Didn't know it was this years smart phone darling. I just wanted a big screen and lots of memory so I could load music in it like an ipod.

Now I'm finding out about apps. They have a pinball app! Okay, that's a game I'll play. There is some app called Evernote that has been handy for jotting things down.
So, does anyone know a better app for "to-do" lists, notes etc that doesn't go...to The Cloud. How about a calender to write my appointments and birthdays on.

And, which are the good Compass, level, measuring tape, tool apps?

Because I don't know what I don't know about these phones, are there things to look out for and don't do?
Are there apps that you think are the greatest things since sliced bread?

Let's talk about smart phones.

Hi ho! As Ylee said - it is warm at your abode!

Hope you are enjoying the Olympics, only a couple of days to go and then we can breathe for a few weeks before it all begins again for the Para-Olympics.

I would like to go to London to see the Olympic park, but will have to wait until it is all over, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get in without a ticket due to the security.

Have a good weekend .... before you begin again!

Hi GG!

You got a smart phone??? we still have our 3 or 4 yr old blackberries that are falling apart.

We need new phones, seriously we do ... and must make time and go buy one soon.

But after all the renovation expenses..we keep putting it off. We think we want a smart phone this time..like having a mini computer..but I am not all that much of a techy person so not sure how well it will work..

Glad to hear things are going well in your world!!!
If you are still on the same schedule I am, you are working today and tomorrow.. this was our "short week"..then off Sun, Mon, Tues.. then have "long" week next week.. YUCK!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Hello!! Smart phones!!! I love mine... in fact when I had to have work done on my gallbladder and later have the hernia fixed... the last thing before they rolled me away - was for me to hand over my phone to my mom. She then gave it back to me when I woke up. Could not see to play much on it right afterwards but it did help later to keep my mind off the pain.

Apps.. sweet!!! My current fav is "Draw Something" by Zynga - if you get this one.. look for me under the nick of - redagainpatti ... what else huh?

SmuLe is the next one.. I am under just - redagain in that one...

Anyway... there's two for you to look up and read about to see if drawing or playing on a piano might make you smile a bit...
hugs and love to all of you folks...

Different shades of hot.
That's what you got.

Any more fun with a forklift in a hot parking lot lately? Funny some of the things that come to mind when I'm doing a quick fly-by to say Hi. That was you I remember playing with a forklift, wasn't it? Hope so. Otherwise... ooops!

Hi-ho, Ms. GG - turns out, you weren't alone with your SW snafu. As a matter of fact, there was a whole crowd of you. You may have seen this, but my gosh - what a good reason not to pay for such things as airline tickets with a debit card!

For the rest of us it is Saturday, but for you it could be any day of the week ... I lost track once you moved the other end of the week.

I was really chuffed with my camera yesterday. I had a police helicopter hovering over the woods at the bottom of the hill. I imagine it was about 500 feet high, and about a quarter of a mile away over the ground.
This is what I achieved... hand held:)

First I saw the blog about the meaning of the word - Snafu... at school, I put another word in that started with f - fouled ... so small ears would not be burned so.
Then I found out about SW... and ran to check with my younger daughter who has been flying to meetings of late... thank goodness she was not touched by that mess... and really sorry to hear you were..
I hope all gets fixed with no lasting after taste or affects from not being able to pay the bills. .. wow...
hugs and love to you ... and few prayers that you have a great week ahead.. I am off to spend a few nights south of here with son-in-law, older daughter... plans are to take the boat out tonight to watch the sky for the falling stars!!
Yall all be good ... you hear?

Hi All, we are actually under a 100f today. Brrrrr ;)

Hi Ylee, I think there is a drive-in within a 100 miles. Your right about needing to roll up the windows and leave the a/c running. Suppose we could drag the TV into the yard and invite the neighbors.

Hi Sandi, good shot of the "cop"-ter. Wonder what they were looking for? Perhaps some of the equestrians went off course and cross country.

Hi Gams, it is a lot of fun to have one of these. I thought Blackberries were the same thing. They are like a micro laptop. Typing is a bit slower for me though.

* I have learned to keep it in "airplane mode" while playing the free app games. This disables the commercials and keeps you from accidently clicking something on the screen that sells you something you don't want.

Hi Patti, these phones really do find a way to make themselves "indisposable" in our lives. Someone else mentioned "Drawsomething" am going to have to check that out. Bet your glad to have the gallbladder done with.
You should have fun in the boat tonight. The best viewing time though is supposed to be after midnight Sunday into Monday...I think.

Hi Briar, yep, I never miss an opportunity to play with the forklift. We have a fancy new one now. I actually miss the chuggy old one because it had predictable hiccups and catches it could be driven by feel. Guess we will just have to leave the new one out in the rain a few times ;)

Hi Prose, your yard must be gorgeous right now to keep getting these rose pictures. My roses look defoliated from heat. They will bounce back come autumn.

Hi Shore, you have no idea how happy I was to find out this happened to a bunch of people. Not that I wish ill on folks. It just meant that it wouldn't become a huge paperwork nightmare to fight.
So glad I use my credit card for everything...due to the fact I can contest payments etc. The bank card is my emergency card.

It is the Women's Olympic's this year.

Katie Taylor (boxing) brought Ireland their only gold medal.

****If the US Women Olympians were their own country, they would rank third in the world for the most gold medals!****

In Kazakhstan 4 out of their 6 golds were won by women...in events traditionally considered for men.

You Go GrrlZ!

Ditto on the grrlZ!!!

For typing try swpe. It takes a bit getting used to but I do find it faster and easier. When I first tried texting I totally forgot about the intuitive spelling. I texted my son and the text that he received said immutable geese! What I had wanted to say was amazing, geesh! He thought that old mom had lost it, lol!

Remember the TV programme "The Golden Girls? It went through my mind we could call them Our Golden Girls!

Pasted from my blog in reply to something Karen said.

When I read your comment - The USA won 47 gold medals, 29 by women! We are taking over the world!!! - a thought went through my head. I have read quite a bit about the Mayan calendar, and the prophecy for December. Other than the supporters of the end of the world, it appears others believe it is the beginning of a new era in the Mayan calendar, when a more supportive and more feminine period begins. Perhaps the women taking over the sports is the start!

Soon be the end of your week - enjoy the Weekend:)

Could it be the Age of Aquarius?

Hi Rob, knew there was I reason I like you.

Hi Prose, all your beautiful flower and butterfly photos definitly add good to the world.

Hi Calpoppy, I tried the swipe and just can't get the hang of it. Immutable geese is pretty close. On the voice "butler" I asked "How big is an anaconda" it replied; would you like to call Andra? Hope important diplomatic messages are not done with swipe...insert eyebrow raising message here ;)

Hi Sandi, sounds like your weekend is going to be fun. It would be nice if women take over planet...as long as it's not man/women like Sarah Palin or other extremists.

And hi ho it's off to work I go.
