Coastal Flood Statement
Statement as of 03:52 PM EST on November 25, 2014

* location...portions of Hampton Roads adjacent to the lower Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic coastal waters.

* Timing/impacts...water levels will approach minor flooding thresholds within a few hours either side of high tide late Wednesday morning.

* Tides...tidal departures will rise to around 1.5 feet above normal during the high tide cycle late Wednesday morning and early afternoon. Due to some uncertainty...minor flooding will be possible and this statement may be upgraded to an advisory if predicted water levels rise a few tenths of a foot from current forecast values.

All tide heights are relative to mean lower low water. Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour. Flood category based on total tide.

...Record high temperature not set at Norfolk VA...

The temperature sensor at Norfolk International Airport malfunctioned yesterday...erroneously recording temperatures rising to 80 degrees well after sunset. The correct high temperature was 76 degrees set at 128 PM EST. Therefore...a record high temperature was not set...and the record high for November 24th remains 78 degrees set in 1983.
